COSTA CRUISES SUPPORTS “ADDIOPIZZO” MOVEMENT: “PALERMO NO MAFIA TOUR” AVAILABLE FROM TODAY FOR GUESTS OF COSTA SMERALDA

The Italian company is promoting an important initiative in favour of ethical and responsible tourism. Every Thursday, during Costa Smeralda's call in Palermo, the ship's Italian and international guests will be able to discover the old town of Palermo with a walking tour of the places of civic anti-mafia resistance and the fight against racketeering, organised by Addiopizzo Travel.

Genoa, 24 August 2023 - Guests arriving every Thursday in Palermo onboard Costa Smeralda will be able to explore the city in a truly unique way by taking part in the 'Palermo No Mafia Tour', a walking tour of Palermo's historic city centre in discovery of the symbolic places of civic anti-mafia resistance and the fight against racketeering. The tour is organised by Addiopizzo Travel, a social cooperative and tour operator created by the Addiopizzo movement, which offers ethical tourism to say no to Mafia.

In line with the principles of its "Manifesto for value-based, sustainable and inclusive tourism”, Costa Cruises has chosen an ethical and responsible shore experience for its guests in Palermo. The 3 hours walking tour will be an eye-opening experience to discover a different face of Palermo, a city which is rebelling against the Mafia. Guided by locals, guests will deepen your knowledge of the notorious Sicilian mob and learn about the anti-mafia movement, beyond the clichés and the Godfather myths.

The itinerary of the 'Palermo No Mafia Tour' winds through the streets of the historic centre, to show a new image of the city. After being welcomed at the port, guests will start the tour from the Teatro Massimo, a place that for many is linked to the imagery of the film 'The Godfather'. Then, guests will reach on foot the Wall of Legality, a mural more than 60 metres high, depicting the faces of those who have fallen in the fight against Mafia, such as Paolo Borsellino, Giovanni Falcone, Peppino Impastato, but also personalities from Sicilian literature and culture, such as Andrea Cammilleri, Leonardo Sciascia and Letizia Battaglia, who have always been on the front line in the fight for legality.

The tour then continues to Piazza Beati Paoli, to tell of the legendary but unfounded link between the sect of Luigi Natoli's novel 'I Beati Paoli' and “Cosa Nostra”, passing through the famous and picturesque Mercato del Capo. The next stop in the tour is Piazza della Memoria, with its memorial dedicated to the magistrates killed by the Mafia behind the Tribunal, and then on to the Cathedral, where will be discussed the issue of Mafia-Church relationships and the anti-Mafia commitment of martyrs such as the priest Don Pino Puglisi. Guests will then reach the City Hall, for many years a symbol of the union between Mafia and politics, but which also experienced the season of the “Palermo Spring”.

The tour also includes a break for critical consumption in one of the shops displaying the logo of the 'Pago chi non paga' campaign: these are shops that have said no to racketeering, publicly declaring that they no longer want to pay protection money. In this way, Costa Smeralda's guests will not only be able to contribute to change by supporting a circuit of ethical and pizzo-free economy, but also to get to know the Addiopizzo network of traders and their stories.

The Addiopizzo Committee is an anti-mafia movement founded in 2004 by a group of young people around a slogan: 'an entire people who pay “pizzo” (protection payment) is a people without dignity'. It operates from the bottom up through the strategy of 'critical consumption', involving citizens and tourists to support with their purchases traders who do not give in to extortionist demands and who have openly spoken out against mafia bullying, as well as offering free assistance to victims of extortion and usury.

Costa Smeralda is a state-of-the-art ship powered by liquefied natural gas, the most advanced technology currently available in the maritime industry for cutting emissions. Until 14 March 2024 Costa Smeralda will call in Palermo every Thursday as part of a week-long itinerary in the Western Mediterranean that includes Civitavecchia, Savona, Marseille, Barcelona and Palma de Mallorca. From 23 March 2024 until the end of the year, it will instead be Costa Toscana, sister ship of Costa Smeralda, which will call in Palermo every week.

The 'Palermo No Mafia Tours' can be booked by guests before the departure of the cruise, in the special section of MyCosta.com, Costa's website that allows them to customise their holiday, or directly on board the ship.

GO ON A CRUISE WITH COSTA AND EXPERIENCE THE EXCITEMENT OF THE RYDER CUP 2023

The Italian company, as the official cruise line of the Ryder Cup 2023, is offering a unique opportunity to watch the most important team tournament in world golf, which will be held in Italy for the first time, by booking a cruise onboard the Costa Smeralda or the Costa Toscana, the most innovative ships in the fleet.

Genoa, 8 June 2023 - Costa Cruises, an Italian company and Official Cruise Line of the 2023 Ryder Cup, presents a truly unique opportunity for all golf enthusiasts.

The Ryder Cup, the most important international team competition in world golf, is set to take place in Italy for the first time in its history. From September 25 to October 1, 2023, a selection of the best U.S. players and a selection of the best European players will compete on the course of the Marco Simone Golf & Country Club in Rome. The anticipation for this sport event, among the most watched in the world, is sky-high: tickets for the closing days of the tournament, from Friday September 29 to Sunday October 1, are now sold out.

Except for Costa Cruises guests. In fact, by booking a cruise on the Costa Smeralda or Costa Toscana, the most innovative ships in the Costa fleet, guests will also have the possibility to attend the closing rounds of the Ryder Cup 2023.

The offer includes several options for maximum flexibility. The first applies to the two Costa Toscana (Sept. 21 to 28) and Costa Smeralda (Sept. 22 to 29) cruises preceding the Ryder Cup weekend. At the end of the cruise, in the port of Civitavecchia, guests will be able to travel independently to the Marco Simone Golf Club to enjoy the matches scheduled for the final days, the most exciting time in the tournament.  This first option allows guests to enjoy unforgettable experiences on board the two ships - such as the Archipelago Restaurant with menus by great chefs Bruno Barbieri, Hélène Darroze and Ángel León, or the Solemio spa overlooking the sea -, visit magnificent destinations in the Mediterranean (Civitavecchia/Rome, Genoa, Marseille, Barcelona, Cagliari and Naples for Costa Toscana; Civitavecchia/Rome, Savona, Marseille, Barcelona, Palma de Mallorca, and Palermo for Costa Smeralda) and then end the vacation on a high note by attending the Ryder Cup.

Another option to enjoy the Ryder Cup, however, is to purchase any cruise departing aboard Costa Smeralda until 30 November 2023, including the "Cruise & Golf" package, regardless of the date of the cruise. This option is particularly suitable for golf enthusiasts who like to test themselves on the green.  Indeed, the "Cruise & golf" package allows guests to play at some of the most prestigious golf clubs in the Mediterranean during the port calls included in the Costa Smeralda itinerary, choosing up to 4 of the 24 best courses in Italy, France and Spain; while at the same time enjoying a Costa vacation to the fullest.

Costa Cruises' "Cruise & Golf" formula is a true "easy golf" experience, free of worries.  In addition to Green Fees, the formula includes a number of special services for maximum comfort. Among these, dedicated transfers from the ship to the golf club and back, priority embarkation and disembarkation at the beginning and end of the cruise, insurance and onboard storage of golf equipment, and a welcome kit in the cabin. In addition, this option includes a special offer dedicated to golfers and their families to enjoy the exceptional variety of restaurants available on Costa Smeralda and to try a range of selected treatments and services in the "Solemio" spa and beauty salon on board.

The proposed formula is the "flight+cruise" package. Costa Fortuna will sail exclusively between the Lesser Antilles. The first itinerary includes Guadeloupe, Tortola, St. Marteen, Antigua, St. Lucia and Martinique; the second Guadeloupe, Trinidad and Tobago, Grenada, St. Vincent, Barbados and Martinique. All calls are at least 10 hours long, in order to experience these beautiful islands with ease, snorkeling, discovering local traditions or savoring Caribbean delicacies.

Calls include La Romana (Dominican Republic), Ocho Rios (Jamaica), Grand Turk, Amber Cove (Dominican Republic), Samana (Dominican Republic) and Catalina Island (Dominican Republic). The ship’s second itinerary explores six of the Caribbean's most beautiful islands, calling at La Romana (Dominican Rep.), St. Lucia, Barbados, Guadeloupe, Antigua, and the British Virgin Islands, to explore beaches, caves, botanical gardens or swim among the stingrays.

Another destination to experience a warm winter is the United Arab Emirates, where Costa Smeralda will be deployed. The week-long cruises will visit Dubai (UAE), with a two-day call, Muscat (Oman), Doha (Qatar), and Abu Dhabi (UAE), taking guests to experience the ancient traditions, nature as well as the futuristic cities of this area.

The Italian company is offering five Mediterranean cruises during the Easter holiday period. Big news then in spring-summer, with the return of the flagship Costa Toscana to the Mediterranean, the re-entry into service of Costa Diadema after major restyling work, and Costa Fortuna's itineraries between Greece and the Balearic Islands.

Genoa, 6 April 2023Costa Cruises takes the spotlight in the Easter holidays 2023. Over the next weekend, the Italian company is offering five different cruises in the western Mediterranean, including two one-week cruises with the flagships Costa Toscana and Costa Smeralda, two 5-day and 4-day mini-cruises with Costa Pacifica and Costa Fascinosa, and a two-week cruise on Costa Diadema, bound for the Canary Islands. Costa Firenze and Costa Favolosa will also be offering cruises in South America over the Easter period.

Costa Deliziosa, on the other hand, will be sailing on the final part of her Around the World cruise, with the evocative passage through the Panama Canal, while Costa Fortuna is completing her transatlantic cruise from South America to Italy.

On all Costa ships there is a dedicated programme to celebrate Easter on board, with special dishes and entertainment activities.

“Sales in the last three months have been robust. Ship occupancy is growing steadily, and summer programs are selling very quickly with a high demand for cabins. This is a very encouraging outlook, considering that our capacity in the Mediterranean has increased compared to 2019, while keeping our capacity in Northern Europe constant, thanks to the entry of new, state-of-the-art ships into the fleet in the last three years, such as Costa Toscana and Costa Smeralda” – said Mario Zanetti, President of Costa Cruises.

Costa's Easter cruises mark the start of the spring-summer 2023 season. Among the new proposals, there are the return of the flagship Costa Toscana to the Mediterranean, the re-entry into service of the Costa Diadema and the Costa Fortuna itineraries.

After a winter in the Arabian Gulf, Costa Toscana returned to the Mediterranean over the Easter holiday period, offering one-week cruises to Genoa, Marseille, Barcelona, Cagliari, Naples and Civitavecchia/Rome, joining the sister ship Costa Smeralda, already in the Mediterranean, which offers a one-week itinerary to Savona, Marseille, Barcelona, Palma de Mallorca (Ibiza in summer), Palermo, and Civitavecchia/Rome.

The third Costa ship positioned in the western part of the Mediterranean is Costa Diadema. During the winter break, the ship underwent major renovation work, introducing new experiences to make the holiday on board even more unique. Such as the Archipelago restaurant, where guests can enjoy menus created exclusively for Costa by chefs Bruno Barbieri, Hélène Darroze and Ángel León; the Sushino at Costa, a sushi bistro by the sea, also featuring a lounge with live music; the Fiorentina Steak House, offering the best of Italian and international meats; the Sunset Bar, for an aperitif during "golden hour" on a seafront terrace; and a completely revamped Aperol Spritz bar. From Easter 2023, Costa Diadema will offer two-week cruises to the Canary Islands, followed, from 7 May, by a one-week itinerary with calls in Savona, Civitavecchia/Rome, Cagliari or Ajaccio (depending on departures), Palma de Mallorca, Valencia and Marseille.

From 13 April, Costa Fortuna, having completed the season in South America, will also return to the western Mediterranean. After a 3-day mini-cruise, she will start offering 14-day itineraries, first to Turkey and then to the Canary Islands. In the summer, the ship will offer a never-before-seen two-week itinerary, which will make it possible to visit the Greek and Balearic islands in a single holiday, with Savona, Civitavecchia/Rome, Messina, four magnificent islands in Greece, such as Crete (with a call in Heraklion), Rhodes, Mykonos, Santorini, Kefalonia (with a call in Argostoli), Palma de Mallorca, in the Balearic islands, and then Barcelona and Marseille.

Costa's offer in the Mediterranean will be completed by Costa Deliziosa, which will explore Marghera/Venice, Katakolon/Olympia (Greece), Mykonos (Greece) Santorini (Greece) and Bari, and Costa Pacifica, which will visit Taranto, Costa's new port of call, Catania, Malta, Mykonos and Santorini. Both itineraries are one week long.

Northern Europe cruises will be available from May to September. Costa Fascinosa will offer 12-day itineraries to the North Cape, or nine-day cruises to the most beautiful cities in the Baltic; Costa Favolosa will visit Iceland, the Lofoten Islands, Greenland, a new destination for this summer, or Great Britain and Ireland; Costa Firenze will offer one-week cruises in the Norwegian fjords.

For those with only a few days available, in spring there are mini-cruises to France and Spain, from 3 to 5 days, with Costa Fascinosa and Costa Pacifica. For a longer break, in addition to Costa Fortuna and Costa Diadema, in spring there are Costa Pacifica cruises to Israel and Egypt; Costa Firenze, Costa Favolosa and Costa Fascinosa cruises from the Mediterranean to Northern Europe, with the possibility of choosing the reverse itinerary, from Northern Europe to the Mediterranean, in September; and finally Costa Fascinosa's 10-day Lisbon cruises and Costa Favolosa's 11-day Morocco cruises.

It is still available the 75th Anniversary promotion to book a Costa’s cruise in spring and summer, with 75 cruises at a special price.
