New Cancellation Update for Carnival Cruise Line, Cruise Suspension

CARNIVAL CRUISE LINE EXTENDS OPERATIONAL PAUSE

THROUGH SEPTEMBER 30

MIAMI, June 22, 2020 – Carnival Cruise Line today advised guests and travel agents that it has extended its operational pause in North America through Sept. 30, 2020.

“During this unprecedented pause in our business, we have continued to assess the operating environment and confer with public health, government and industry officials,” Carnival Cruise Line President Christine Duffy told booked guests and travel agents in a letter sent today.  But she added that following the cruise industry’s announcement on Friday that it would voluntarily extend its pause in North America, Carnival Cruise Line is now cancelling all cruises through September 30.

“We have watched with great interest as commerce, travel and personal activities have begun to start back up, and once we do resume service, we will take all necessary steps to ensure the health and safety of our guests, crew and the communities we bring our ships to in order to maintain public confidence in our business.  Nevertheless, we apologize for disrupting your vacation plans and appreciate your patience as we work through these decisions,” Duffy said in the letter.

Carnival initially announced a voluntary 30-day pause in operations on March 13, and has now extended that pause three times, reflecting the public health challenges associated with the COVID-19 pandemic.  It is currently completing the repatriation of nearly 29,000 crew members to more than 100 nations who serve its fleet of 27 ships.  As with previous pause announcements, Carnival is giving guests who wish to move their booking to a later date a rebooking offer that combines a Future Cruise Credit (FCC) and  either a $300 or $600 Onboard Credit (OBC) that has proven very popular with their guests.  Guests, as always, have the option to receive a full refund.  The process is fully automated so that guests can submit their preference online and they have until May 31, 2021 to make a selection.

“We appreciate the patience and support of our loyal guests, and recognize how much they want to get back to cruising.  When the time is right, our outstanding onboard team will be waiting to welcome them back and give them the great vacation that they deserve,” said Duffy.

Norwegian Cruise Line has just come out with a new extension in the pause of operations for all of their sailings. Except for a few select sailings! In the video, we discuss how NCL is particularly hopeful and holding onto their Alaska sailings and not canceling some September voyages out of Seattle, even though the Canadian government has banned cruise ships until the end of October. What are your thoughts on this continued pause on cruising and that NCL is holding out hope to sail to Alaska in 2020?

Updated June 16, 2020:    Your safety is our #1 priority—both on and off our ships. Due to the current global environment, we are extending the suspension of 2020 cruises to include:

  • The select October sailings listed below

Destination Affected Ship(s) Suspended Voyage Dates

Alaska Norwegian Bliss October 12

Alaska Norwegian Joy October 4

The FCC must be used one year from issued date for ANY Norwegian Cruise Line voyage embarking through 2022.

Guests who prefer to not take advantage of a future cruise credit can elect to receive a lesser refund equal to the amount paid to date to the original form of payment 90 days after form submission for sailings originally scheduled to embark:

  • July 1 - July 31:
By submitting this refund form by no later than 11:59 pm EST on June 19, 2020.

  • August 1 - Forward:
For cruise departure dates from August 1 – September 30, in addition to the affected cruises outlined above in October, the refund request form will go live at 9:00 am EST on July 6, and must be submitted by no later than 11:59 pm EST on July 17, 2020.

MIAMI, June 9, 2020

PRNewswire

Luxury cruise line Cunard, announced today that, as a result of the continued impact of Covid-19, it will be extending the pause in operations.

For its ships Queen Mary 2 and Queen Victoria, Cunard is cancelling all sailings that were due to depart up to and including 1 November, 2020 and for Queen Elizabeth, departures up to and including the 23 November, 2020.

Cunard President, Simon Palethorpe, said, "With many differing restrictions across countries, people's ability to move freely and safely across borders remains seemingly someway in the distance. For Cunard, where we celebrate having a truly international mix of guests and sail all over the world, this becomes particularly impactful. We also need to better understand the implications Covid-19 will have on board our ships. We are therefore working, at the highest level possible, with government bodies, including the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention - the CDC - and Public Health England, as well as the industry collective body – CLIA - and other expert medical professionals to review every aspect of a holiday with us."

He added: "Whilst we have always taken pride in having the highest levels of health and safety, we are looking at enhanced protocols across all aspects of ship life and experiences on shore. We will only return to service when we have a comprehensive restart protocol with the stamps of approval and accreditation from the most trusted and informed sources."

Cunard will be communicating with all guests, and their travel advisors, who are booked on affected voyages.

As Cunard has done previously during this pause period, guests who are booked on cancelled voyages will automatically be given a 125% Future Cruise Credit. This can be redeemed against any new booking made by the end of December 2021 on any voyage that's on sale at the time of booking.

Full details of the changes to operations and options available to guests due to travel on cancelled voyages, can be found at www.cunard.com

◦ Friday, May 22nd, 2020, if your sail date was on or after May 12th, 2020.

• Please know, taxes & fees and any RoyalUp upgrades will be automatically refunded. You can expect to see these in 45 days.

• A few additional considerations on Future Cruise Credit program:

◦ If you opted into the Cruise with Confidence 100% Future Cruise Credit, you do not qualify for this offer.

◦ If you used a Cruise with Confidence certificate on this sailing, you’ll receive a new Future Cruise Certificate for 125% of your total cruise fare value paid, including the value of your original certificate.

◦ If you used a Future Cruise Certificate on this sailing, you’ll receive a new Future Cruise Certificate. This will be for 125% of any new monetary funds paid on this sailing, plus the reactivated value of your original certificate at 100% of its worth, with an expiration date of December 31st, 2021 and a sail by date of April 30th, 2022.

What happens if the global cruise suspension already impacted you?

- Sailings through April 10th, 2020, and paid additional monetary funds on a new booking within this extended suspension period, you’ll receive two 125% Future Cruise Credits: one for the original booking and another equal to 125% of any monies paid towards cruise fare on the new booking. You are able to opt in to refund one or both via the process below.

We will price protect the original pricing and/or promotion on the same itinerary, length, product, and stateroom category as your original sailing within 4 weeks (before or after) of the original sail date in 2021. For example, if you are moving from a July 30th, 2020 sailing, you can move to a sailing that is the same itinerary, length, product, and stateroom category, and the sail date between June 30th, 2021 – August 30th, 2021. Full Refund Option (Lower Value)

If you prefer the lower value in a full refund instead of the 125% Future Cruise Credit, we’re happy to process this for you. Given how fluid this situation is, and the opportunity to use the extra credit being offered:

• You may request a refund and your certificate will be deactivated. You must request your refund by:

◦ December 31st, 2021 for sailings departing March 13th – May 11th, 2020, plus Alaska sailings departing May 12th – June 30th 2020, Empress of the Seas June 1st, 2020 & June 12th, 2020 sailings, and May 2020 Voyager of the Seas sailings (excluding May 25th, 2020 sailing).

◦ December 31st, 2020 for sailing departing May 12th – July 31st, 2020, including Canada sailings departing August 1st – October 31st, 2020

• We’ll then deactivate your Future Cruise Credit and process your refund to your original form(s) of payment, which will include any non-refundable deposits.

• To avoid waiting on the phone to cancel, please click here and we will get the process started for you.

• You can expect to receive your refund 45 days after you submit your request.

P&O Cruises extends pause in operations for all sailings until October 15, 2020

Logo-PO-UK.jpg

P&O Cruises extends pause in operations for all sailings until October 15, 2020

MIAMI, June 2, 2020

PRNewswire -- P&O Cruises has announced an extension to the pause in its operations until October 15, 2020 as it focuses on working in close coordination with all relevant public health bodies to approve further enhancement of the company's already stringent health and safety protocols.

In the latest of a series of videos P&O Cruises president Paul Ludlow said:

"As a business our operational focus is not "when can we resume sailing?" but is instead "how can we develop a comprehensive restart protocol that will keep everyone on board, our crew and guests, safe and well and still give our guests an amazing holiday?"

"We are working with government and industry bodies at the highest possible level, such as Public Health England (PHE) and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), to review every aspect of a holiday with us and establish a framework of policies and procedures. Our aspiration is to be adopting best practice in managing COVID-19 within the travel industry.

"Unfortunately, as the world continues to adapt to this global crisis, we have made the decision, difficult as it is, to extend our pause in operations for all sailings up to and including October 15, 2020. We are so sorry for the disappointment this will cause to so many of our guests."

All guests who were booked on these cancelled sailings will receive an enhanced Future Cruise Credit which gives an additional 25% on top of the amount paid for the holiday.

Ludlow continued:

"We have now amended our systems so that those guests with the enhanced 125% Future Cruise Credit may now redeem them online without the need to call us, which will make things much easier for our guests. Further details of this will be on the website."

Following feedback from guests P&O Cruises has also confirmed that the Future Cruise Credit, which may be held until the end of 2021, may be put against any holiday on sale at that time, giving guests maximum flexibility and choice.

FCCs may also be used to upgrade or for a second cabin for any existing booking and also may be gifted or transferred to someone else. This option will also be available until the end of December 2021.

"P&O Cruises is also introducing a 5% deposit for new bookings made between 27 May and 29 June 2020. The offer is available on applicable Early Saver and Select Price holidays of 19 nights or fewer from January 2021. See website for details.

"We want to apologise once again to those guests who wait for refunds, particularly at a time of financial constraints, however the new technology we have in place is rapidly improving things though and we continue to make further progress on a daily basis."

Expanding on the likely protocols Ludlow said:

"We have for years had in place many of the protocols now considered advisable for other social gathering venues, such as hand-sanitizing stations and rigorous cleaning and disinfecting procedures. We also have for years gone beyond those protocols by having guests complete a health declaration form and having a comprehensive medical facility on board each ship providing 24/7 medical care and treatment. During the recent crisis, we added robust health screening upon embarkation, starting with thermal scanning of guests and crew.

"Along with the rest of the world, we will adapt. We will work closely with medical experts and global authorities to help us determine the best way to move forward while honoring our highest responsibility – the health, safety, and wellbeing of our guests, crew and communities we visit, along with compliance and environmental protection.

"We have always taken such pride in our standards of cleanliness and hygiene before Covid-19, but when we return there will be enhanced protocols approved by hospitality and national public health authorities. This will ensure we continue to have in place high levels of cleanliness across every single aspect of public areas, crew living areas and every item of furniture in cabins and everywhere on board as well as approved safety standards for the service of food and drink; entertainment and experiences on board and on shore.

"When the time is right, we will be ready to resume our tradition of providing amazing holiday experiences for our guests."

Come explore Cozumel as we go to some nearby beaches from the port Lungusta in Cozumel. We planned for a low key beach day enjoying the gorgeous cruise port! We ended up doing a bit of exploration and spent the afternoon at the public free beach, Playa Azul. This was day 6 of the cruise vlog on the Norwegian Getaway. Once back on the ship we enjoyed dinner in one of the main dining rooms Savor, and continued the evening with dancing, singing, and loads of entertainment! The white party was a huge hit at the outdoor night club Spice H20!

CELESTYAL CRUISES EXTENDS SUSPENSION OF CRUISE OPERATIONS DUE TO ONGOING TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS AND PORT CLOSURES UNTIL 30th JULY 2020

Untitled2.jpg

At Celestyal Cruises, they have taken the difficult decision to extend the suspension of our sailings until 30th of July 2020 due to the ongoing travel restrictions and temporary port closures within the region in which we operate.

The Greek government recently announced that the Greek tourism season will gradually recommence in the next few weeks with international flights from select countries resuming in July. They will continue to monitor the phased opening of Greece to international tourists while working closely with the Greek authorities on the development of enhanced health and safety protocols.

They apologize to their valued guests for the inconvenience this further temporary suspension will cause. They are confident they understand that they take into consideration all aspects that will ensure the well-being of their guests and crew. It’s encouraging to see that Greece is prudently commencing it’s reopening for international tourism in a phased manner following the country’s globally acclaimed best-practice handling of the COVID-19 pandemic.  When the time is right, they will look forward to recommencing their operations and welcoming guests back onboard.

For all named and paid individual guests impacted by this temporary suspension, Celestyal Cruises is offering a Future Cruise Credit (FCC) valued at 120% of original booking value. Guests will have until the end of December 2021 to redeem their Future Cruise Credit against any of Celestyal Cruises’ itineraries through end of December 2022. For additional flexibility should guests choose not to redeem their FCC by end of December 2021, they will automatically receive a full refund equal to the original amount paid to Celestyal upon the voucher’s expiry.

To reduce the inconvenience as much as possible, they will automatically send the Future Cruise Credit Voucher directly to guests or their travel advisors, so there will be no need to call the Contact Centre other than to rebook.

Following their recent 2021 & 2022 digital brochure launch supported by the generous early booking promotional campaign ‘Escape To The Future’, an updated ‘Peace of Mind’ policy allows guests to change any cruise that sets sail from now through December 31, 2021. This applies to new bookings made until August 31, 2020. As long as the booking is changed at least 30 days before the sail date, a Future Cruise Credit for 100 percent of the value received by Celestyal will be issued. The credit can be used toward any cruise that sets sail through December 31, 2022.

It was a successful day at sea where we enjoyed the ship and got to relax as well! This is the last full day of the cruise and follows up by the key breakfast in the morning of disembarking.
